UV printing is a specialized form of digital printing that uses ultraviolet (UV) light to cure or cure UV inks, which are then cured almost immediately after being applied to a prepared substrate. UV printing process is unique. Substrates can include paper as well as any other material the printer can handle. It can be foam, aluminum or acrylic panels. Once the UV ink reaches the surface, the special UV lamp inside the printer immediately targets the material on the surface of the ink, making it dry and firmly adhere to the surface.
In traditional printing, solvent ink is applied to a surface and heat is used to cure the ink. Solvent-based inks evaporate, spread across the substrate surface before drying, and release volatile organic compounds (VOCs). The heat used to cure the surface solvent ink can create an unpleasant smell.

UV printing uses special UV ink. Uses powerful LED UV lamps instead of heat to cure ink on print media. When the ink is applied to the surface, the UV light follows the ink closely, allowing the ink to dry instantly, no matter the material (or materials) used. Since the ink dries almost instantly, it does not evaporate and therefore cannot spread onto the material to be printed on. Plus, no VOCs, ozone, or toxic fumes are released into the air. In addition to the fast drying and eco-friendliness of UV printing, this type
of ultraviolet printing and related form of ink transfer can also be used with a wide range of materials, including paper, plastic, foil , acrylic, foam and so on.
